Royal Air Force officer's ranking braid is an item of blue and black woven braid that is typically worn on the sleeve of an RAF officer's jacket and is used to designate his or her rank.In this instance, two thin blue stripes and one thick bar indicates the rank of Air Marshal.

According to RAF dress regulations, the rank braid must be positioned so that the centre of the braid is 9.5cm or 3 & 3/4" from the edge of the sleeve cuff.
